Exercise physiology in Blackburn

Services Offered

Summit Health Group’s Blackburn clinic provides accredited exercise physiology for adults over 60 across Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. We work with clients managing osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, Parkinson’s disease, falls risk, chronic conditions, and post-surgical recovery — delivering ongoing weekly programs designed for long-term strength, balance, and independence.

Our Blackburn clients don’t attend for a short course of sessions. They attend weekly because consistent, progressive exercise produces better outcomes over time. The longer we work together, the more we understand your body — and the better your results.

    Healthy Ageing Exercise

    Conditions we treat

Our accredited exercise physiologists have particular expertise in:
    • Osteoporosis and low bone density
    • Osteoarthritis — hip, knee, and spine
    • Falls risk and balance impairment
    • Parkinson’s disease
    • Chronic heart disease and metabolic conditions
    • Diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2)
    • Post-surgical recovery — hip and knee replacement
    • Neurological conditions
    • Generalised deconditioning and muscle loss (sarcopenia)
If your condition isn’t listed, call us. If exercise physiology can help, we’ll tell you honestly.

What to expect from your first visit

Your first session is an assessment. We take time to understand your medical history, your current limitations, and your goals — whether that’s staying independent at home, recovering from a hip replacement, or managing osteoporosis long-term.

From there, we design a program specific to you. Most clients attend weekly. Over time, we track your progress, adjust your program, and keep you moving forward.

Why ongoing weekly sessions produce better results

A single block of sessions won’t change your long-term health. What changes it is consistency — a weekly relationship with an exercise physiologist who knows your body, tracks your progress, and adjusts your program as your capacity grows.

Our Blackburn clients build strength, reduce falls risk, manage their conditions more confidently, and maintain independence for longer. That’s what weekly, ongoing exercise physiology produces — not a quick fix, but a sustained change.

“I highly recommend Summit. Having had surgery on my ankle earlier in the year I was concerned about my mobility for an upcoming trip to Europe later in the year. Des at Summit was fantastic, he worked with me to not only safely strengthen my ankle but also improved my overall strength and mobility which made my trip a breeze. I see Des and Summit playing an integral role in keeping me stronger and mobile going forward.”
